Kids Hope USA

What is Kids Hope?

Kids Hope USA is a national mentoring program that works exclusively through local churches, teaching them to connect their members in one-to-one relationships with at-risk public elementary school children. This growing network of 725+ church-school partnerships in 29 states provides hope and love to over 8,000 children.

Kids Hope engages...

One child, at a public elementary school in your neighborhood—a boy or girl with emotional, social, and academic needs.

One hour, sixty critical minutes each week for a mentor to nurture a child who is just one person away from believing in herself or himself.

One church, a caring faith community that wants a proven relational ministry to make a difference in the lives of children and families in its neighborhood.

One school, a local public elementary school that welcomes a partner to meet the needs of children who are at risk, in the form of relationships with caring adults.

Why is Kids Hope needed?

The children:  America’s youngest children experience a surprising level of neglect. Due to this, now more than ever, children need adults to come alongside them at that time in their young lives when values are formed, self-esteem is developed, and basic academic and problem-solving skills must be acquired. They need love!

Public elementary schools:  Over 50 percent of the requests for KIDS HOPE USA programs come from teachers and principals. They look to the church for help in providing what the children need most—love!

Churches:  There are people in every church who would love to reach out to these children if they only knew how. Very often, though, churches lack a relational platform from which to launch their members into the lives of neighborhood children and families. They need to share love!

Jefferson Elementary + Washington Discovery Academy + Crossroads Church

Crossroads has partnered with Jefferson Elementary and Washington Discovery Academy.  We currently have 41 mentors (24 at Jefferson & 17 at Washington) giving one hour a week during the school year to mentor a child.

Our goal for the 2025-2026 school year is to maintain the mentors at Jefferson and Washington while adding an additional 10 -12 mentors so we can bring our total count of mentors at Washington to 24 and position ourselves to begin a third program at another elementary school in our community!

That’s right!  We’re hoping to expand to a third school.  It's a big goal, but we serve a BIG God!

Please consider becoming a mentor!
